These earrings are a great example of Monet's style and craftsmanship. They are clip on and were made in the 1980s.
These earrings are 22K triple gold plated. The earrings are signed. The reverse of each earring clip is stamped with 'Monet' and a copyright symbol. The earrings measure 2cm x 2cm.

The Monet company catered extensively for the demand for classic gold tone pieces in the 1980s. Women wanted practical designs that would function in the workplace, as much as they would look elegant with evening wear. Well crafted, gold plated, earrings such as these were consequently a popular purchase in department stores across the USA and UK in the Eighties. They were crucial to the enduring appeal of Monet jewelry.

YSL designs had high standards, and Monet was likely the only costume jewelry company that could meet the manufacturing requirements. After success with that line, Monet began manufacturing Christian Lacroix costume jewelry in 1995.

Noteworthy, all the making process was hand-made (enameling, assembling, polishing, etc). Traditionally, the jewelers of Orena Paris used gold and silver tone alloy, often textured. According to products marked Orena, jewelers often used red, blue and white enamels in the colors of the French flag. Also, green, purple and black enamel, rhinestones, art glass and crystals.
High quality and craftsmanship allowed to produce jewelry for such famous brands as Lanvin, Balenciaga, Pierre Balmain, and Helena Rubinstein.
Located in France, Orena jewelers produced lots of Art Deco and modernist style earrings, bracelets, necklaces and brooches under their own brand. At the moment, costume jewelry labeled Oren Paris is desirable for lovers and collectors of vintage costume jewelry.
